Personality;
Sansa Stark is the portrayal of what noble girls of Westeros should be like. She is educated, soft spoken, obedient and kind. As a proper lady of her time, she is skilled in and enjoys doing traditional female tasks, such as embroidering, reading and reciting poetry, dancing and singing, as well a follower of protocols, and considers it embarrassing when someone breaks it. Also, she is a romantic soul, and enjoys stories and songs about chivalrous knights and princes.

Sansa is the second child and oldest daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and his wife Catelyn from Winterfell. As the daughter of a noble family she has been raised among the love of both her parents and her siblings. Therefore, during the first years of her short life, she has lived in a sheltered environment, protected from the evils of the world, making her a very innocent and sometimes spoiled girl.

One of her prominent qualities is her physical beauty. She has the blue eyes and auburn hair from her mother's family, the Tully's, and is said to be quite tall for her age. Sansa knows she is beautiful, and can even be somewhat vain. She enjoys the intricate hairstyles she sees among the members of the court at King's Landing, as well as lavish dresses and jewelry.

Not only is her appearance usually impeccable, but also her behavior. She is softspoken, elegant and obedient, like a proper lady. Even her own direwolf, Lady is said to be as elegant and well-behaved as her owner. This, along with her vanity, makes her clash with her sister Arya. The younger girl doesn't understand why Sansa spends so much effort on becoming a lady, something she considers extremely boring. And on her part, Sansa doesn't know why her sister doesn't enjoy fitting into the traditional gender roles. Their differences are such that by the time they are separated from each other because of their father being arrested and executed as a traitor, they weren't speaking to each other. However, they still love each other and wish to see each other again someday. Sansa is not always as kind as she tries to be, she can be selfish, and is horrorized by disfigured people, as shown by the way she reacts with disgust towards Tyrion and Sandor Clegane (The Hound), a man who had half his face burned.

Sansa used to be quite innocent and a believer in romance, love and chivalry. She was pleased when during the Hand's Tournament, she recieved a red rose from the handsome Ser Loras Tyrell. She believes knights to be honorable men, when in truth, many of them revel in butchery. The young girl, in her romantic notions, had convinced herself that she loved Joffrey, and that the people at the court were good.

All of this changes after King Robert's death. Her father was accused of treason and killed on King Joffrey's orders. She begins to despise the young monarch, but she hides it under her docile exterior. She realizes she has no friends at King's Landing: her father and his men are dead, her sister and Jeyne Poole, her best friend, disappeared, and the rest of the people at the court have their own agendas to follow. Joffrey treats her badly, abusing her physically and psychologically, but she knows she must hold on for her family's sake. Her only way to fight is use all her knowledge on how to be a lady to play up an act the Queen and her son will believe. She must pretend to repudiate her family, love her intended and support the Lannisters to keep her life intact. Though she is sweet and smiling on the outside, inside she is constantly in pain. But this is a weakness she can't afford herself to show.

The events happening to Sansa during the third and fourth books bring some important developments to her personality. For one thing, the young girl learns that things don't always go as she expects it or desires. She didn't get her wish to marry a handsome prince or a gallant knight. She did not even get married to the heir of Highgarden, Willas Tyrell. Instead, she got Tyrion Lannister, Imp, who disgusts her due to his physical deformities and for being a Lannister. Her dreams were shattered in such a way, that she is not sure she every wishes to marry again, an issue that is brought up first by Lysa Arryn, and later by Petyr Baelish.

As an effect of this, she also becomes much less naive than she used to be during the first and second books. She does not believe anymore that knights are the honorable people that songs and stories make them out to be. Some knights kill without mercy, just as a common mercenary would, including Ser Jaime The Kingslayer and Ser Gregor Clegane. Even, or maybe especially fool knights, such as Ser Dontos are clearly not be trusted, for they would sell her secrets given the correct price. Secrets may sometimes only be kept silent if no one knows of them.

Slowly, she also realizes she's becoming a woman. Since her flowering, men are beginning to look more often at her, as well as desiring her in a sexual way. But Sansa is still young and innocent enough to fear giving away her maidenhood, even during her brief marriage to Tyrion. Though she was required to consummate the marriage by the Faith's laws to make the union valid, her husband showed her enough kindness to spare her this moment, however clear it was that he desired her in this way too. Later, once she is free, other men have seeked out her favors. The bard Marillion attempted seducing her, and not being used to being rejected, tried to rape her. Petyr Baelish, for his part, sees Catelyn Stark in her, and thus wishes to have her as well, being somewhat more subtle about it. Using his authority as his protector and fake father, he has managed to get some kisses from her, not all of them as chaste as Sansa feels comfortable with. However, he is the only one who stands between her and Queen Cersei, so she must keep him happy, even if it costs her a kiss or two.

Not only has Sansa physically matured, but there was also some emotional growing up she had to do after all these events. Her last brief moment of being a "carefree" girl with no responsibilities was when she built a snowcastle in her aunt's courtyard. But after Lysa's death, she is considered old enough to take care of the running of things in the Eyrie, becoming pretty much the mistress of the keep. While the keep is a small one, with not many servants or inhabitants, the young Stark girl seems to be doing a good job in keeping it running efficiently.

Finally, something else is that Sansa has become good in keeping secrets and lying. After being betrayed by Ser Dontos, and knowing her life is at stake, she has taken up her guise as Alayne Stone. She is finally able to act convincingly enough to make everyone believe she is indeed a bastard girl, and not the daughter of a high lord of the North. This ability will be crucial for her at this point, as Cersei is looking for her to be punished for treason.

Samples;
[Sansa, no "Alayne", she must remember, was just fingering her bracelet, trying to figure out how to activate it after talking to the strange maid in the palace. She is no stranger to war, but she has never been directly involved in one. The closest she has been was hiding out with the other ladies while battle raged outside in King's Landing. Not to mention the war destroyed her family: her father, her mother, her brothers... But it seems that this time, a more direct involvement is expected of her.

Either way, it seems that whatever she did to the bracelet has work, and the beautiful face of a teenage girl with long, dark hair, wearing an outdated dress comes into view.]

Good evening, my Lords and Ladies... I was told by the maid at the welcome hall that I should head off to House Freya. Unfortunately, I do not know where that place can be found. Would anyone please be as kind to point me way?
